About Louisville Literary Arts

.

Our Mission
Louisville Literary Arts’ mission is to engage readers and writers in order to enrich the literary arts in Louisville.

LLA is grounded in the Kentuckiana region, that weird space where the South and Midwest collide, where voices are tinged with bourbon and Pabst Blue Ribbon, and where strip malls are just as sacred as coal mines.

Since 2004, through our InKY Reading Series, we have showcased accomplished, published career poets and writers as well as up-and-coming talent through an ecumenical approach to style, genre, and affiliation. By offering open mic opportunities, we hope to make the literary community more inclusive and participatory.

Louisville Literary Arts is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization located in Louisville, Ky.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, supports LLA with state tax dollars and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
